A small shop in downtown Plymouth, MA won an award for upholding the historic look of the town. They put window displays relating to the season up every few months and use rustic signs and keeps up the appearance of the awning (which with most toher stores are fraying.) This story probally doesn’t seem to be of much importance to many but since i live there, i am able to see the significance of this award. in the past 3 years Plymouth has become more of a city and less of america’s hometown. With atleast 3 new hotel chains, 10 or more new food chains, and strip malls every 10 minutes, the historic look of the town is close to extinct. however, thanks to common sense they have set a new standard for the appearance of stores in historic plymouth. also, with the 400th celebration of the town coming up in 2020, they want to create a historic look to maintain the town’s importance. also, right next to common sense the owner is putting up the common ground cafe and bakery. this is good news because their food is amazing and all the ingrediants are all natural. check it out if your in MASS.

In this article it told of how the Patriots football team is purchasing renewbale energy credits to offset the energy used to put on a game. this energy consists of lighting the field, powering the consession stands, the scoreboard, etc. i think it is very innovative for them to do this and will set a good example for sports teams in the future. this will also give a positive outlook on reducing carbon footprints to those who attend these games. Since the fans at the game will see how well this techinque is working, they may be mor einclined to follow in these same footprints. The Red Sox also said they will do their part in environmental awareness; they will start recycling bottles and plastic at the games. I’m surprised they havent already been doing this though.

I think this website and campaign were very interesting because of how interactive it is. I thought it was a little strange how they made it so you had to enter a chamber to create your Mountain Dew. But I guess it makes sense to do this because it makes your new Mountain Dew like a survival tool in this virtual chamber world. You have to battle with your dew and this will help to maintain your points and status in the world. I think that it is innovative for Mountain Dew to do this because it is an interesting approach to a campaign. But I also see how it has second life influence and it is interesting how influential virtual worlds are becoming. Even on our own Marist College website there is a link on the homepage to visit Marist College Island on second life.
Dewmocracy is also an interesting name for the campaign because it gives the illusion, or rather brings home the point that this new flavor/type/name of Mountain Dew really is up to those who participate, and this will not be a corporate only decision. I think this reaches Mountain Dew’s target audience because it appeals to a more radical type. Since this opening video resembles a scene that could be in ‘V for Vendetta’ it gives the illusion that this is for the more radical, rule breaking, bold type of consumer. After looking at the message boards however, I think they may have encountered a road block in their campaign idea. Many of the message board subjects were along the lines of “confused”, “need help”, and “this doesn’t dew anything.” I think if they don’t address this problem their campaign and virtual world website will not last through the selection process of a new Dew.
Seven people were killed in a house fire in North Carolina this past weekend. Six people survived and one jumped from a window into a waterway to escape the fire. 12 of the 13 kids attended University of South Carolina, and one attended Clemson. The house belonged to the parents of one of the girls who was in the house. The source of the fire is yet to be determined, and the names of those who passed away in the fire are yet to be released.
I think this is really scary, and i wonder what the situation was that caused six to escape and seven to die. the article did not specifiy what time the fire occured at, so i dont know if the fact that they were sleeping is the cause of that.
